PROF. MARIELA MODEVA, PhD

Prof. Mariela Modeva, PhD was born in Sofia. Lecturer and researcher at the University of Library and Information Technology (ULSIT) since 2010 and a lecturer at the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (UCTM) since 2008. She graduated at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" with two master's degree. The first is pedagogical with the second specialty Bulgarian Language and Literature and Second Higher Education in the field of Cultural Studies. Prof. Modeva has specializations in Journalism and Applied Cultural Studies (Marketing, Management and PR). She was advisor to the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works (2005-2009), Chairman of the Expert Council to the Minister of RDPW, member of the National Council for the Protection of Cultural Monuments to the Minister of Culture (2007-2009), External coordinator of the Working Group "Immovable Cultural Heritage" and member of the working group "Education" for preparation of the National Strategy for the Development of Culture in Bulgaria (2012-2013). Member of: European Union Network of Independent Experts on Social and Cultural Policy since 2008; The International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) (since 2006); General Secretary of BNC of ICOMOS (2011-2017); member of the Executive Board of the European Network for Continuing Education (DANET), member of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria; member of The Public Council to the Minister of Culture in 2013; member of International Scientific Committee on Cultural Tourism of ICOMOS International since 2014. She teaches 8 subjects in the Bachelor's degree and 4 in the Master's degree in regular, external and distant form of education.
Her scientific interests are related to cultural heritage as a factor of regional development, cultural tourism, public libraries, European institutions, programs and projects, non-verbal communication and leadership in a modern information environment. Erasmus guest lecturer at the University of Zagreb (2012), Croatia and Jagiellonian University (2018), Poland. She has participated in scientific forums in Belgium, Germany, France, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Turkey, Malta and others and has 36 certificates from training, scientific conferences and seminars. Prof. Modeva is an author of more than 80 articles, reports and presentations, 2 monographs, 2 studies, 1 textbook, 2 textbooks and 1 manual.
Between 2014 and 2016, she was the Scientific Secretary of the Scientific Advisory Council of the University Youth Knowledge Management Academy and the Scientific Secretary of the Expert Group on Knowledge Management (Order No. 552 / 10.12.2013 of the Rector of ULSIT). Project Manager for the Annual Scientific Conference on "Modern Strategies and Innovation in Knowledge Management" for 2015 and 2016.
